SHOULD WE WEAR BICYCLE HELMETS?

June 12, 2014 — A well-known British brain surgeon is saying helmets will not protect you if you fall off your bike.  On the contrary, he suggests, cyclists who wear helmets are encouraging motorists to drive closer, hence causing more accidents.  An argument not many bike aficionados will buy. DO CELL PHONES CAUSE BRAIN CANCER?

June 5, 2014 — Dr. Day comments here on a new study showing that people who used their cell phones for half an hour a day over the course of five years were two or three times more likely of developing glioma and meningioma tumors, a form of brain cancer, compared to people who rarely used one.  [Read more]

Dr. Day Named Director of Clinical Education at MNI

Sept. 17, 2010—Arthur L. Day, M.D.,has joined the medical staff of Mischer Neuroscience Institute (MNI), concomitant with his appointment as professor of neurosurgery at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, effective July 1. He will also serve as vice chair of the department of neurosurgery at UT Medical School and director of clinical education at MNI. [Read more]

 

The Sixth Annual Sports-Related Conference on Concussion & Spine Injury

May 1, 2009–Dr. Day was a speaker and a member of the organizing committee for the Sixth Annual Sports-Related Conference on Concussion and Spine Injury. This event featured world-renowned experts in the field of neuroscience and clinical practice dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from traumatic sports-related brain and spine injuries.
